環境工程（Environmental Engineering）為應用科學與工程之方法來改善環境（包括空氣、水、土地資源），進而為人類之居住以及其他生物體提供對健康有益的水、空氣以及土壤，亦包括污染場址之復育。我們可經由教育大眾、保護環境、訂立規定以及應用良好工程實作(Good Engineering Practice)來減輕與控制對環境的負面影響。
環境工程與環境科學的區別
環境工程屬于工科，除了學習了解環境學相關的理論知識外，還要學習了解工程類的理論，其重點在現有成熟的理論的應用實踐；環境科學屬于理科，主要偏向于專業理論的研究，重點是理論的研究與發展。
