Royal of Military College of Canada任教,但是在 Queen's University的神經(jīng)科學(xué)實驗室也有他。
Royal of Military College of Canada在加拿大的名氣如何?
?a href='/Research Groups' target='_blank'>Research Groups。
Canada's Top 50 Research Universities 2009
The programmes of graduate studies at RMCC are open to Officers and non-commissioned members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Regular and Reserves, and to civilians who are either Canadian citizens or permanent residents. All the graduate programmes are subjected to the appraisal process administered by the Ontario Council of Graduate Studies, Council of Ontario Universities

In any case, if you’d like to take me as your student, please give me some advice on the following questions.
1. Which school should I apply to? The Royal Military College of Canada or the Queen’s University?
If you really want to jump in computational neuroscience, Queen’s might be better. But you will need to find a co-supervisor in neuroscience there. I can help you out with this. You would need to browse the CNS members web page and found someone that works on a neuroscience problem that interest you. I suggest you browse those pages and send me your questions before contacting them. There is a step learning curve for someone coming from pure computer science to get a PhD in neuroscience (but this depends on the topic, your speed and background, etc), it is more a question of knowledge acquisition and maybe doing some lab work, there shall be no big mathematical difficulties if you are good at machine learning.
If you want to stick to a computer science program (and I guess this is your case), then RMC is more straightforward, as if your file meets the requirement, it will come to my department for evaluation. This will not limit you from doing modeling work, it will only make your PhD in computer science and will reduce the amount of neuroscience required.
Independently of your registrations, the two campuses are near each-others and you are allowed to take some courses from the other institutions as well as participates to seminars and other related stuff.
2. If I should apply to the Royal Military College of Canada, does the Graduate School recruit international student? And my IELTS score is 6.5. Is it qualified? The reason I ask this is I can only find TOELF requirement, but no IELTS.
I think RMC do accept international students, but there might be a bit more paperwork. I am not sure about the exact IELTS details, you would need to contact the registrar’s office.
3.
If you think I should apply to the Queen’s University, I beg your help
with my application. You know, the minimum required IELTS score for
graduate
problem in Queen’s is 7. I have consulted Lucy Russo-Smith (the Program
Assistant in Center for Neuroscience Studies). She told me that if I
want to be admitted, I must have a supervisor who is willing to take me
and can make a case for me.
Again,
if at Queens, we would need to find a more specific areas you are
interested in, to find a colleague that could co-supervise you
with me.

civilians who are either Canadian citizens or permanent
Co-supervisor
