工作室藝術系（Department of Studio Art）受美國藝術與設計學校協會（NASAD）認證，從學院初創以來，工作室藝術系在美國眾多藝術院校中享譽盛名。*(3)

歷史發展表：

• 1895年：工作室藝術系成立之初為手繪與機械制圖系（Department of Freehand and Mechanical Drawing）。在當時，美國僅有3所藝術學系
• 1941年：赫爾曼校長任命亨利接管美術系（原手繪與機械制圖系），并雇傭了2名教授。教學點就位于現在的富蘭克林廳（Franklin Hall）
• 1948年：亨利創立了希望基金（Hope Fund），用以收藏手繪、攝影、繪畫、水彩等作品，作為日后IU藝術博物館永久收藏
• 1962年：最新的美術教學樓落成，設計師為斯特勞斯（A.M. Strauss）。該教學樓坐落在校園的中心位置，也就是著名的美術廣場（Fine Arts Plaza），連接了IU禮堂、Lilly圖書館和美展噴泉
• 1982年：舉世聞名的IU藝術博物館建成，該博物館是由I.M. Pei著手設計的。現用于工作室藝術系系藏館
• 2015年：在新董事會的全力贊助和支持下，新的藝術與設計學院成立*(4)

服裝采購與室內設計系（Department of Apparel Merchandising and Interior Design (AMID) ）包括的項目主要是調查環境周邊的消費者及審美。開設有3個本科學位項目，分別是： 服裝采購學士（Apparel Merchandising B.S.）、室內設計學士（Interior Design B.S.）和時尚設計學士（Fashion Design B.A）。值得高興的是，學?；謴土朔b采購研究生項目并于2015學年秋季學期始正式招生。

服裝采購與室內設計系是伊麗莎白圣人歷史服裝系列（ The Elizabeth Sage Historic Costume Collection）的所在地。自18世紀末至今，有近24,000項女子、男子、兒童的服飾。*(5)
